NEW YORK — An electric appliance store in New York City is moving to a new location as it attempts to avoid losing its iconic brand and its customers.
The Electric Shave Club in the Hudson Valley is moving from the mall in Gowanus to the new spot on Fifth Avenue.
In September, the store announced plans to move to its new location.
“We’ve been waiting a long time for this moment,” owner and founder James “Jimmy” Shaver said at the time.
It’s been more than two years since the store’s former location on Fifth was razed, and the new location has a more expansive, modern look.
Shaver said the move will make it easier to retain its customers, as the store will have a larger store front and more space to offer items.
“We are going to have a much larger, much more functional store,” he said.
He also said he hopes to keep the same staff of about 20, with more people joining when the new store opens.
A total of 3,000 customers currently shop at the shop.
