Electric appliances are on sale at the New York State Fairgrounds in Queens, New York.
The New York Post reports that “Weird” electric appliances are now being sold on eBay and other auction sites for a price range of $1,200-$2,000.
In addition to being able to get a great deal for the odd item on eBay, some people have been able to save a bit on the purchase.
“It was quite a challenge, to be honest with you, because a lot of them are really old and there are so many of them, so they just aren’t getting a lot in the market right now,” a buyer of a rare electrical appliance named Lizzie told ABC News.
The seller, who has a buyer’s premium of $100 per item, told ABC affiliate WABC that she was excited about buying the appliance.
She said the seller was very knowledgeable about it and had a lot to say about the style of the appliance and even the name.
“We were hoping to get some sort of a vintage look,” she said.
The auction house said that if you have a vintage electrical appliance, you may be able to make a deal for it that would be comparable to buying the exact same appliance at auction.
The buyer said that he had “really good contacts” at auction houses in New York City and the surrounding area.
He added that he hopes to keep buying the appliances that he finds and that the sellers will get them back.
